ABOUT Dal Tadka RECIPE

This delicious dal tadka is a comfort food you can have in any meal.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 100 gm - Arahar Dal
  2. 4 Pods - Crushed Garlic
  3. 2 - Red Dry Whole Chilies
  4. 1/4tsp - Cumin Seeds
  5. 1/4tsp - Turmeric Powder
  6. 1/2tsp - Salt
  7. 1/8tsp - Asafoetida Powder
  8. 1tbs - Chopped Fresh Coriander Leaves ( for garnish )
  9. 2tsp - Ghee
  10. 1-2 cups - Water

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak arahar dal for 30-40mins.
  2. Pressure cook with 1/2 cup of water, 1/4tsp turmeric powder and salt for 5 whistles.
  3. In a kadai / pan heat 2tsp ghee. Add garlic and let it turn deep brown then add cumin seeds, asafoetida and red chilies. Fry until fragrant.
  4. Add the boiled dal over the tadka and add water to dilute if the dal is too thick. Boil for 6-7mins.
  5. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve with steamed rice or paratha.
