ABOUT Easy Golden Mediterranean Falafels (Not Deep Fried) RECIPE

These Golden Mediterranean Falafels are perfect as a snack or meal/brunch. Assemble with Pita bread, Hummus or eggplant dip and you are ready to feed a happy crowd.Loved by young ones as well as by young at heart..these delicious savory chickpeas balls are a sure Hit among everyone. As I always prefer to go for a healthier version so instead of deep frying I used Appe/Paniyaram pan with little oil and results were amazing. I am sure you all would love it too.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 1.5 cup - Chickpeas/ Chole /Kabuli Chane ( soaked overnight)
  2. 1/4 cup - Finely chopped cilantro/coriander
  3. 2 tbsp - Tahini
  4. 2 tbsp - Roasted white sesame seeds
  5. Salt to taste
  6. 1/2 inch - Ginger, finely grated
  7. 2-3 - garlic cloves, finely chopped
  8. 1 - Small onion, finely chopped
  9. 1-2 - Green chilies chopped or 1 tsp of red chili powder or cayenne pepper
  10. 1 tsp - Roasted cumin powder
  11. 1-2 tbsp - Chickpea flour/ besan (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash the soaked chickpeas nicely and drain off the water completely.
  2. Transfer them into a food processor /grinder and add all other ingredients except Salt. Pulse/grind to make a coarse mixture.
  3. Add salt to taste and Make lemon size balls with hands which hold together & don't break. Add chickpea flour which acts as a binder to hold the mixture together.
  4. keep Falafels in the fridge for an hour to chill.
  5. Grease Appe/Paniyaram pan with little oil and pan fry the falafels on low flame till turns Crispy golden on all the sides.
  6. Serve Golden Falafels with Hummus/ Eggplant dip with or without a Pita bread.
