Dal Pakwan

Ingredients to make Dal Pakwan

  • 2cups -chana dal (soaked)
  • salt - To taste
  • 1tbs - turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tbs - Red chili Powder
  • 1/2 tbs - jeera Powder
  • 1/2 Cup - Green chutney
  • 1- onion, chopped
  • For Pakwan : 2cups - maida
  • salt -To taste
  • 3tbs - oil for moyan
  • oil - For frying
  • water - As required
  • 1/2 tbs - jeera

How to make Dal Pakwan

  1. Pressure cook chana dal with salt, water, and turmeric Powder. ( three whistles) Open when the cooker cools and sprinkle red chili powder on dal.
  2. Heat oil in tadka pan and add jeera. When the jeera splutters pour the tadka on dal. Take it out in a serving bowl. Put chopped onion and green chutney as garnish.
  3. For Pakwan : Put maida in a mixing bowl and add all the ingredients mentioned under Pakwan list. Kneed the mix into a soft dough using small quality or water at a time.
  4. Divided the dough in little balls and roll them into rotis with a rolling pin.
  5. Heat oil in the pan for frying. When the oil becomes hot fry all the pakwan till they become crisp. Do it in small batches.
  6. Serve the crisp pakwan with spicy dal.
