ABOUT Healthy Burger With Chickpea Falafel Patty RECIPE

A favorite burger with a very healthy kabuli channa or chick pea falafel. Kids love it and it is also a good protein source.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. For Falafel: 1/2 Cup - Chickpeas soaked overnight and pressure cooked till soft.
  2. 1 - Small onion, finely chopped
  3. 1 - Garlic clove, crushed
  4. 1/4 Teaspoon - Coriander powder
  5. 1/4 teaspoon - Red chilli powder
  6. 1/4 teaspoon - Cumin powder
  7. 1/4 Teaspoon - Crushed black pepper powder
  8. 3 Tablespoon - Parsley, finely chopped
  9. 2-3 Teaspoon - Bread crumbs or all purpose flour
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Oil for Deep frying
  12. Other Ingredients : Burger buns
  13. 1- Small capsicum, sliced
  14. 1- Tomato, sliced
  15. 1- Onion, sliced
  16. Tomato Sauce - As required
  17. Cheese, sliced or grated as required

Instructions

  1. In a food processor mix all the ingredients for falafel except oil. Mix until you can make a ball with that mixture. Adjust flour for binding.
  2. Make lemon size balls and press them slightly and deep fry from both sides in hot oil until golden brown. Drain on kitchen towel to remove extra oil.
  3. Assembling : Take one burger bun and cut it into two parts.
  4. Place one tomato slice onto the bottom part and pour some sauce.
  5. Place the falafel patty, capsicum, onion, cheese sheet or grated cheese.
  6. Cover it with the other half of the bun and lock it with a toothpick.
  7. Grill for 5 minutes and serve hot.
