Healthy Green Moong Dal chilla

Ingredients to make Healthy Green Moong Dal chilla

  • 2 cup - Green moong dal and 1/4 cup chana dal, soaked for 2 hours
  • A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 pinches - Sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp - Green chilli and ginger paste
  • 8 tbsp - Crumbled paneer
  • 2 tbsp - Finely chopped coriander
  • 2 tsp - Dried pudina powder
  • 1 tsp - Chaat masala
  • 1 - Tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 - Medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 - Small capsicum, finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp- Extra virgin olive oil for cooking (for each chilla)

How to make Healthy Green Moong Dal chilla

  1. Combine the moong and chana dal along with little water and blend in a mixer till smooth.
  2. Transfer it to a bowl, add the salt, asafoetida, sugar and green chilli-ginger paste and mix well to get a lump free batter.
  3. For filling : Mix paneer, onions, capsicum, tomato, salt, chaat masala and mint powder.
  4. Heat ¼ tsp of oil in a tava and pour a ladle full of the batter and spread it evenly to make a thin round of 6 inches. Once it cooks and turns light brown on one side flip and cook from other side also.
  5. Sprinkle 2 tbsp paneer mixture and fold the chilla and cook on a medium flame.
  6. Repeat with the remaining ingredients to make more chilas
  7. Serve hot with ketchup or green chutney or coconut chutney.

My Tip:

Paneer should be fresh and preferably homemade. Dal batter should be lump free.
