Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 500 gms fish cut into pieces of your choice
  2. 1 tsp rice
  3. 1 tsp jeera/cumin seeds
  4. ½ tsp fenugreek seeds
  5. 1 tsp chana dal
  6. 3 tbsp oil
  7. 3 green chili slit
  8. 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  9. 2 onions chopped
  10. 3 tomatoes chopped
  11. 5 tbsp fresh grated coconut
  12. 2 tsp red chili powder
  13. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  14. salt to taste
  15. 3 sprigs of curry leaves
  16. 2 tbsp tamarind pulp
  17. 4 tbsp coriander leaves chopped

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the rice, jeera/cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and chana dal till they are lightly toasted, about a minute. Allow to cool.
  2. In a blender, add the cooled spices, onion and coconut and make a smooth paste. Set aside.
  3. In a non stick pan, add all the ingredients along with fish, the onion-coconut paste, chopped tomatoes, green chili, ginger garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, curry leaves, tamarind pulp, coriander leaves.
  4. Add a glass of water. Allow to boil on a medium flame then turn the flame to low when the gravy starts giving a boil.
  5. Turn off the stove when the color of the green chili has changed and the oil starts floating in the gravy. Garnish with coriander leaves before serving.
