ABOUT Baghari Sem Ki Phali RECIPE

This is an yet another veg recipe from the Hyderabad City. Known as flat beans in English, this one is a simple stir fried recipe involving the minimum of spices. It can be relished both with rice and rotis. It has the most simplest of the ingredients but still tastes yummy. It goes very well with tomato chutney as an accompaniment. This beans is also made with mutton in the Muslim households in the city and since this dish does not have it, it is called as baghari, meaning without the mutton and made just as a vegetarian dish. It is crunchy and just see the lovely green colour it has retained.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Flat beans (Sem) 300gm
  2. Onions, sliced large 2
  3. Salt 1 tsp
  4. Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
  5. Crushed cumin 1 tsp
  6. Crushed coriander 1 tsp
  7. Crushed kalounji (Nigella seeds) 1 tsp
  8. Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  9. oil 2 tbsp
  10. Coriander, finely chopped a handful

Instructions

  1. Wash and split the beans into two and then cut them into thicker pieces.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan and saute the ginger garlic paste first for a few seconds. Now add the onions and the other spices.
  3. Saute all for 2 to 3 mins and then add the beans. Cover and simmer on medium flame. Add little water only if required.
  4. It will be done in just about 15 minutes.
  5. Garnish with lots of coriander and serve hot with rice or rotis.
