Ingredients to make Shrikhand

  • 750 ml yogurt plain
  • 12-15 Nuts roughly chopped (a mix of cashews and Almonds)
  • 40 grams powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom Powder

How to make Shrikhand

  1. Place the yogurt in the center of a clean muslin cloth over a large strainer on top of a large plate. Wrap the cloth from all sides and tightly tie it up.
  2. Hang this cloth in a refrigerator for 6-7 hours or till the water is completely drained from the curd. Place a container to collect the whey.
  3. After this time period, untie the cloth and pour the thick curd into a bowl. Next, get rid of the whey.
  4. Add in sugar and cardamom powder into the curd bowl. With the help of a hand mixer, whisk these ingredients together until smooth.
  5. Then put in the chopped cashew nuts and almonds. Give it a good stir. (It is advisable to refrigerate this dish for an hour before serving. )

My Tip:

Make sure to use fresh curd and not sour, as doing so will turn the shrikhand sour.
