  1. Paneer (crumbled) 1 cup
  2. Butter 3 tbsp
  3. Vegetable oil 3 tbsp
  4. Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
  5. Cloves 2
  6. Cinnamon a small piece
  7. Cardamom 2
  8. Bay leaf a small piece
  9. Whole black pepper 2-3
  10. Onion (finely chopped) 2
  11. Tomatoes (finely chopped) 2
  12. Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  13. Green chili (finely chopped) 1
  14. Red chili powder 2 tsp
  15. Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  16. Coriander powder 1 tsp
  17. Garam masala powder 1/2 tsp
  18. Coriander leaves (chopped) 2 tbsp
  19. Sugar 1/2 tsp
  20. Lemon juice 1 tsp
  21. Salt as required

Instructions

  1. Heat butter and oil in a pan, add cumin seeds. When they splutter add cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, whole black pepper and bay leaf. Saute for a minute.
  2. Add the chopped onions and saute until they turn soft and pink. Add in the ginger garlic paste and green chilies. Saute well. Add chopped coriander leaves and chopped tomatoes and saute.
  3. Reduce the flame and add in turmeric powder, red chili powder and coriander powder. Saute in low flame until the oil begins to appear on the sides. Add grated paneer. I used home-made paneer, so I just crumbled it on the masala. Mix well and adjust salt. Add garam masala and mix. Add sugar to balance the taste. Cook covered for 2-3 minutes. Squeeze some lemon juice over the Paneer keema. Switch off the flame, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
