Thanjavur Saambar Masala

Ingredients to make Thanjavur Saambar Masala

  • Red chilli - 50gm
  • Daniya - 25 gm
  • Urad dal - 1/4 cup
  • Channa dal - 1/4 cup
  • Dry coconut powder - 1/4 cup
  • Curry leaves - 1/4 cup
  • Rice - 3 tsp
  • Asafoetida - 3 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 3 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds - 3 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Fennel seeds - 1 spoon

How to make Thanjavur Saambar Masala

  1. Heat a pan and dry roast all the ingredients one by one. Do not over roast or burn.
  2. Let it cool and then grind in a mixer - grinder. Keep in a dry, airtight jar.
My Tip: Whenever you make saambar add 2 to 3 spoon of saambar powder.
