Ginger Chutney

Ingredients to make Ginger Chutney

  • Chopped ginger pieces - 2 tablespoons (choose tender ginger)
  • Oil - 3 tablespoons
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Jaggery - 1 tablespoon
  • Tamarind extract - 1 cup
  • Salt - As required
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Methi seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Asafoetida- 1/4 teaspoon (or) 1 small piece Katti perungayam

How to make Ginger Chutney

  1. Dry roast fenugreek and asafoetida, powder it and keep aside
  2. Heat oil in a kadai and add mustard seeds.
  3. After it splutters add ginger pieces and salt . sauté for few seconds. Then pour tamarind extract.
  4. Then add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and jaggery.
  5. Allow it to boil till it becomes thick paste
  6. Switch off the flame . Add the grind powder and mix well
My Tip: It is very easy to prepare and very healthy too. This chutney is a great accompaniment for curd rice.
