Ingredients to make Idlies With Fried Onions

  • Sooji / Rawa - 2 Cups
  • Green chilli, Crushed - 1 tsp or slit in two parts
  • Salt to taste
  • Curd - 12 Cup
  • ENO Sachet - 1/2 packet
  • Water - as required
  • Onions, sliced - 3
  • Oil - 2 tsp +1 tsp
  • Rai- 1/2 tsp
  • Curry Leaves - Few
  • Coriander Leaves, chopped - Few

How to make Idlies With Fried Onions

  1. Mix curd, sooji, salt with a little water and make a batter. Add ENO powder.
  2. Grease an idli stand and pour the batter in each idli mold. Steam till done. Cool in a plate.
  3. In a pan heat some oil and add onions, fry them on low flame. Once done , take them out in a plate and add 1 tsp of oil in the same pan. Add rai, curry leaves and green chilli.
  4. Sprinkle 12 tsp red chili powder on the idli and place them in the pan with seasoning. Add a little salt and mix gently so that idlies get covered with seasoning.
  5. Add fried onions over them and mix properly. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  6. Serve with chutney or ketchup.
