Ingredients to make Mom's Chicken Curry

  • 1 kg - Chicken, cleaned and chopped in medium pieces
  • 4 - Big onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp - Freshly ground ginger garlic paste
  • 1 inch stick- Cinnamon
  • 4 - Cloves
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp - Fennel seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - Black pepper
  • Salt according to taste
  • 1 tsp - Red chili powder
  • 1 tsp- Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp - Garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 4 tbsp - Oil
  • Coriander leaves for garnish

How to make Mom's Chicken Curry

  1. In a deep skillet heat oil and add onion,ginger garlic paste and whole spices. Saute this on high flame with little salt and fry till golden brown. This will take 5-8 mins.
  2. Once brown add all spice powders and switch of the gas and let mixture coo. Once cooled blend it into fine paste.
  3. Now pour this mixture in cooker and add in chicken and mix well. Add water just above the level of chicken pieces and cook it for 2 whistles.
  4. Check seasoning and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot.
