Ingredients Serving: 15

  1. 1/4 Cup - Ground nut and Cashew Nut
  2. 1/4 Cup - Split dalia / Roasted chana dal
  3. 7-8 - Curry leaves
  4. 1/4 tsp - Mustard seeds
  5. 1/4 tsp - Red chilli
  6. 2 tbsp - Dry coconut pieces
  7. Salt as per taste
  8. 6 to 7 tbsp- Oil
  9. Masala : 1 tbsp - Red chilli powder
  10. 1 tbsp - Coriander powder
  11. 1/2 tbsp - Cumin seed powder
  12. 1/4 tbsp - Turmeric powder
  13. Dash of asafoetida

Instructions

  1. In a heavy bottom vessel add a big bowl of thin / medium thin poha / flattened rice and dry roast it for a couple of minutes or till poha becomes crisp. Take out in a plate and keep aside.
  2. In the same vessel heat 6 tablespoons of oil and fry the groundnuts and cashews till they turn golden brown, keep aside.
  3. In the same oil roast the dry coconut pieces till they turn golden brown, collect the pieces and keep aside.
  4. Now to the same pan add mustard seeds and curry leaves fry for a minute. Add red chilli and saute it for a minute or till red chilies are little puffed up. Reduce the flame to low and add all powdered masalas.
  5. Add salt as per taste and 1/2 tablespoon of sugar, saute the masala for a minute and add poha, fried groundnut, cashews, coconut and mix all the ingredients very well. Take out and let it cool. Store in an airtight container and use when desired.
