Mix Dal

Ingredients to make Mix Dal

  • Daal- All types of daal ( lentils) in equal quantities - 200 grams (combined)
  • Ghee - 5 tsp
  • Zeera- 1 tsp
  • Rai - 1 tsp
  • Heeng- 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala -1 tsp
  • Grated ginger and garlic - 5 tsp
  • Onion - 1, finely chopped
  • Green chilies - 4, finely chopped
  • Tomatoes - 2, finely chopped
  • Tamarind paste - 2 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder- 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
  • Salt as required

How to make Mix Dal

  1. Wash the lentils very well. Put the daal in pressure cooker add 4 cups of water, turmeric and salt pressure cook for 2 whistles.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan add zeera, rai, heeng and garam masala when it splutters add onion fry till it become translucent. Add green chillies and grated ginger garlic cook till raw smell goes off.
  3. Add tomatoes amd tamarind paste, cook till they become soft then add red chilies, turmeric powder and salt, cook for 5-10 mins more. Add it to the daal and mix well.
  4. Mixed daal recipe is ready. Garnish with coriander leaves
