Nutritious Lobia Daal

Ingredients to make Nutritious Lobia Daal

  • Lobia - 150 grams
  • Oil - 5 tsp
  • Zeera - 1/2 tsp
  • Heeng - 1/2 tsp
  • Puree of 2 tomatoes
  • 1- Onion ( chopped)
  • 2 - green chilies (chopped)
  • 5 - Garlic cloves
  • Grated ginger - 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Tamarind paste - 2 tsp
  • Salt as required

How to make Nutritious Lobia Daal

  1. Wash and soak lobia overnight next morning drain the excess water and boil it in water till it becomes soft. Add a pinch of salt and turmeric powder while boiling.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add zeera and heeng when it splutters add the onion, tomato puree. Mix well. Saute till oil separates add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, tamarind paste and salt saute for 5 mins. Add boiled daal and saute for another 5 mins.
  3. Add the left over water for getting desired consistency in which daal was boiled. Cook for 5 more minutes.
  4. Lobia daal is ready to serve. Sprinkle some garam masala powder before serving.
