Ingredients to make chilli chicken

  • To marinate:
  • 400 gms - chicken (boneless)
  • 1 - egg
  • 2 tbsp - corn starch
  • 1 1/2 tbsp - soya sauce
  • 1/2 tsp - ginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp - crushed black pepper
  • oil for deep frying
  • For tempering:
  • 1/2 cup - capsicum
  • 2 - onions medium size
  • 2 - green chillies
  • 4 - garlic cloves(big)
  • 3 tbsp water + 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 2 tbsp -soya sauce and oil each
  • 1 tbsp - tomato ketchup and chilly sauce each
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • salt to taste

How to make chilli chicken

  1. Cut the chicken in cubes or strips and marinade with the spices listed under "to marinate". Allow the chicken to marinate for 30 minutes .
  2. Chop and dice the veggies in cube shapes.
  3. Heat oil in a wok/kadhai and on medium heat, fry the marinated chicken pieces till golden brown. Drain the chicken pieces on a tissue paper.
  4. Heat oil in a pan, saute the garlic and green chillies followed by capsicum and onions. Saute till onions become translucent
  5. Add the chicken and saute for a minute. In a bowl mix all the sauces, vinegar and add to the chicken.
  6. Stir in the sauce mixture. Make a slurry of 1 tbsp corn starch and 3 tbsp of water and add to chicken. Adjust salt accordingly.
  7. Allow the mixture to dry and gets well coated to the chicken.
  8. Keep cooking till the chicken is cooked and serve hot.
My Tip: Serve hot immediately .
