Jackfruit Garlic Pickle

Ingredients to make Jackfruit Garlic Pickle

  • Jackfruit - 500 grams
  • Garlic - 8 cloves
  • Salt to taste
  • Deghi Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 tablespoon
  • Turmeric - 1/2 tablespoon
  • Mustard Seeds - 3 tablespoon
  • Mustard oil - 11/2 cup
  • Asafoetida - A pinch
  • Fennel seeds - 2 tablespoon
  • Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 tablespoon

How to make Jackfruit Garlic Pickle

  1. Peel the jackfruit by applying oil in your hands and the knife. Cut into cubes and remove the seeds. Steam the jakfruit cubes and seeds till 3/4 done.
  2. Dry roast fennel and fenugreek seeds and grind it with mustard seeds. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Add garlic cloves and fry till golden brown.
  3. Remove the pan from stove and let it become lukewarm. Put all the spices in the oil along with the jackfruit pieces and mix thoroughly.
  4. Put the jackfruit pickle in the glass jar, cover it up with a cloth and keep it in the sunlight for over a week till the pickle is a bit soft.
  5. Serve the pickle with chapatis or with salt crackers.
My Tip: Jackfruit can also be boiled.
