Jackfruit Garlic Pickle

Ingredients to make Jackfruit Garlic Pickle

  • Jackfruit 500grams
  • garlic 8 cloves
  • Salt to taste
  • Deghi Red Chilli Powder 1/2 tablespoon
  • Turmeric 1/2 tablespoon
  • Mustard Seeds 3 tablespoon
  • Mustard oil 1 1/2 cup
  • Asafoetida a pinch
  • Fennel seeds 2 tablespoon
  • Fenugreek seeds 1/2 tablespoon

How to make Jackfruit Garlic Pickle

  1. Peel the jackfruit by applying oil in your hands and the knife.
  2. Cut the jackfruit into cubes and remove the seeds.
  3. Steam the jackfruit cubes and seeds till 3/4th done.
  4. Dry roast fennel and fenugreek seeds and grind it with mustard seeds.
  5. Put mustard oil in a pan and heat at high temperature.
  6. Put whole garlic cloves in the oil and fry till golden brown.
  7. Remove the pan from fire and let it cool down to medium heat.
  8. Put all the spices in the oil along with the jackfruit pieces and mix thoroughly.
  9. Put the jackfruit pickle in the glass jar, cover it up with a cloth and keep it in the sunlight for over a week till the pickle is a bit soft.
  10. Serve the pickle with chapatis or with salt crackers.
My Tip: Jackfruit can also be boiled.
