Ingredients to make Odia Badi

  • Skinless black lentil - 1 Cup
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Bay leaf - 2
  • Salt as per your taste

How to make Odia Badi

  1. Wash and Soak black lentil in water overnight. Next day drain water and put the lentil in a mixer jar, add bay leaf and cumin seeds to it.
  2. Add very little water to it and make thick paste. Add salt to it and mix with your hand for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Now take a plastic sheet and grease it with oil. Make small drops of the paste and put on the sheet.
  4. Keep the badis to dry in the sun till all the moisture evaporates. Once the badis dry peel them off from the sheet and store.
  5. Fry them in oil and have with rice.
My Tip: Mixing with hand is very important and should not be skipped as it will yield crispy badi
