ABOUT Mordhan Khichdi / Falhari Khichdi RECIPE

Easy to cook, healthy, light meal and perfect during a fasting day. Also a very good substitute for those who want to avoid rice.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Mordhan / sawa chawal - 75 gm
  2. Peanut oil / ghee - 1 tbs
  3. Kari patta - 4-5
  4. Ajwain - 2 pinches
  5. Potato - 1
  6. Tomato - 1 big
  7. Peanuts - 2 tbs
  8. Rock salt - to taste
  9. Lauki (grated) - 1/3 Cup
  10. Water - 200ml
  11. Curd - 1/4 Cup

Instructions

  1. Wash mordhan chawal nicely, drain all the water and keep aside.
  2. Meanwhile cut potato and tomato into cubes.
  3. Heat oil or ghee, crackle ajwain and karipatta and fry peanuts till color changes, add tomato and cook till soft.
  4. Add potato and lauki, saute for 2 to 3 minutes. Add mordhan, salt, water, curd and mix everything nicely. Pressure cook it for 5 minutes after 1 whistle.
  5. Serve hot with plain curd / kheera raita / kaddu raita.
