Mordhan Khichdi / Falhari Khichdi

Ingredients to make Mordhan Khichdi / Falhari Khichdi

  • Mordhan / sawa chawal - 75 gm
  • Peanut oil / ghee - 1 tbs
  • Kari patta - 4-5
  • Ajwain - 2 pinches
  • Potato - 1
  • Tomato - 1 big
  • Peanuts - 2 tbs
  • Rock salt - to taste
  • Lauki (grated) - 1/3 Cup
  • Water - 200ml
  • Curd - 1/4 Cup

How to make Mordhan Khichdi / Falhari Khichdi

  1. Wash mordhan chawal nicely, drain all the water and keep aside.
  2. Meanwhile cut potato and tomato into cubes.
  3. Heat oil or ghee, crackle ajwain and karipatta and fry peanuts till color changes, add tomato and cook till soft.
  4. Add potato and lauki, saute for 2 to 3 minutes. Add mordhan, salt, water, curd and mix everything nicely. Pressure cook it for 5 minutes after 1 whistle.
  5. Serve hot with plain curd / kheera raita / kaddu raita.
My Tip: adjust water acc. to desired consistency. can use roasted and coarsely grounded peanuts which will again more save time.
