ABOUT Ragi Dhokla RECIPE

Dhokla is a popular snack from Gujarat and is usually made with gram flour. For this recipe I have used the highly nutritious Ragi millet.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 Cup - Ragi Flour
  2. 1 Cup - Rava
  3. 1/2 Cup - Sour curd
  4. 1 tsp - Crushed ginger and chilli
  5. Salt to taste
  6. 1 Packet - ENO
  7. Water as required
  8. Tempering : 1/2 tsp - Mustard seeds
  9. 1/2 tsp - Cumin seeds
  10. 1 tbsp - Oil
  11. Some curry leaves

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl add ragi, rava, salt, water and curd.
  2. Mix well and make a smooth and thick batter.
  3. Take the crushed ginger, chilli and add to the batter and mix well.
  4. In a steamer or Kadai place a greased baking dish.
  5. In a small bowl take ENO fruit salt and 1 tbsp oil, mix well. Add this to the batter and mix well.
  6. Pour the batter into greased pan and steam for 10 - 12 minute.
  7. Cool for some time and cut into big cubes.
  8. For tadka: Heat oil in a small pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves. Allow the mustard to splutter.
  9. Remove from gas, and pour it over the dhoklas. Your dhokla is ready to serve with your favorite chutney.
