ABOUT Yellow dhokla RECIPE

Dhokla is one of the most famous dishes of Gujraat and is consumed on a large basis. generally this is steamed and then tempered but here i have used microwave oven to cook the same.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Besan 1cup
  2. semolina 1 tablespoon
  3. Curd 1cup
  4. Baking soda 1/2teaspoon
  5. Salt as taste
  6. Pinch of turmeric powder
  7. For Tadka :
  8. Oil- 1 tbsp
  9. mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  10. asfoetida - 1 pinch
  11. Green chilies-2 [chopped]
  12. Grated ginger- 1 tsp
  13. Red chilli powder-1/2 tsp
  14. Suger - 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. mix the semolina, and the besan together in a bowl. Add curd to this mix and whisk it enough to form a fluffy smooth batter.
  2. Now add the turmeric powder and salt to the above battter and whisk it again.
  3. Finally add the soda and give the batter a mix. let it rise and form bubbles.
  4. Now pour this batter into greased microwave molds and steam them in microwave at high heat for approximately 4 minutes.
  5. Let the dhokla rest for few minutes and de-mold them . cut them intp desired pieces and keep aside to make the tempering.
  6. to make the tempering, heat some oil in a pan. once heated add the mustard seeds, chillies, asfoetida followed by the grated ginger.
  7. Then add the red chilly powder, and the sugar. once the tempering smells, add 1 tbsp of water and let it boil. Pour this tempering over the sliced dhokla pieces.
  8. serve.
