Besan Laddu

Ingredients to make Besan Laddu

  • gram flour -2 cup
  • Desi ghee - 1/2 cup
  • sugar - 3/4 cup
  • Cardomom powder - 1 tsp
  • Few almonds and rose petals for Garnishing

How to make Besan Laddu

  1. In a heavy bottomed kadahi , melt the ghee and add the gram flour. Stir-fry over low heat. It takes about 30 minutes for the flour to get cooked through and once cooked, it will transform itself into a Golden colour or light brown colored mix.
  2. Now heat off the mixture and let it cool down completely.IT should be completely cold otherwise when we will add sugar it will be sticky, as the sugar melts due to the heat of the besan mix.
  3. Add the sugar and cardamom and mix well by rubbing it with your palm.rub it thoroughly.
  4. Shape into tight, hard balls, pressing hard at every stage. At the final stage, keep it pressed a little longer, so that the surface becomes smooth.
  5. Decorate it with few almonds and rose petals

My Tip:

For better results add pure desi ghee. I have used home made ghee as i can assure myself of the purity of the ghee used and also, it adds extra flavour to the laddus.
