Besan Ka Salan

Ingredients to make Besan Ka Salan

  • Besan or gram flour 1 cup
  • Water 3 Cups
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli flakes 1 tsp heaped (red chilli powder or green chillies can be added if desired )
  • 1 LARGE ONION CHOPPED
  • Chopped coriander ; a handful
  • oil 2 tbsp

How to make Besan Ka Salan

  1. In a pan , heat the oil .
  2. Add in the finely chopped onions and let it brown .
  3. Next , add in chilli flakes and stir again .
  4. Add in the turmeric and stir again .
  5. Add in the besan and roast it for about 3-4 mins until the raw smell fades away .
  6. Let it roast on low flame and as a next step , add in 3 cups of water .
  7. Stir continuously till the besan has started to thicken to the desired consistency .
  8. As the last step , add in the chopped coriander and let it simmer for a minute .
  9. Serve hot with chapatis or even bread .
