Ingredients to make Betki maccher paturi

  • Betki fish- 6piece
  • mustard seeds - 1 cup
  • mustard oil- 1 cup
  • green chillies- 7 pieces
  • sugar- 1 tbspn
  • salt- 1tspn
  • banana leaf- 6pieces (3"×3")
  • Threads - as needed

How to make Betki maccher paturi

  1. Put the mustard seed, green chillies and mustard oil in the blender
  2. Blend it till a smooth paste is attained.
  3. Mix sugar and salt to taste in the mixture
  4. Marinate the betki fish with the paste and add a little more mustard oil to the marination
  5. Leave the marination for 30 mins
  6. Brush the mustard oil on one side of banana leaf
  7. Put each marinated fish in each oil brushed banana leaf with some marination paste
  8. Tie the banana leaf with marinated fish with thread well
  9. Brush a pan with some mustard oil
  10. Put the tied banana leaf in the pan and cook in low flame.
  11. Cook till both side of banana leaf become well fried
  12. Serve with hot plain rice

My Tip:

You can try this recipe with hilsa fish also if you are okay with fish bones
