ABOUT Restaurant Style Tawa Naan RECIPE

Tawa naan is the most common Indian bread which is ordered in restaurants. Usually this soft and delicious bread is cooked in tandoor oven, but here I am sharing a different version of naan which is made on Tawa/griddle and that too without yeast

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 2 cups all purpose flour/maida
  2. 1/2 cup warm milk
  3. 1/2 cup curd
  4. 1/4th tsp sugar
  5. 1/2 tsp baking powder
  6. A pinch of baking soda
  7. 1 tsp kalonji/Nigella seeds
  8. 2 tsp coriander leaves chopped
  9. 1/2 tsp mixed herbs(optional)
  10. 2 tbsp butter for greasing the naan

Instructions

  1. Sieve flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, milk, yogurt and slowly combine, to form a soft dough.
  2. Cover with damp cloth and let it rest for 2 hours.
  3. After two hours knead the dough gently for 2 minutes.
  4. Dust the working surface with some flour.
  5. Now take a large sized dough and roll into a thick roti, slightly elongated in shape.
  6. Sprinkle a few Nigella seeds/kalonji and chopped coriander leaves.
  7. Heat a tawa or a griddle and once its hot, place the naan and cover with a lid and cook for 40-45 secs on high flame.
  8. Remove the lid and you will find that the naan bubbles up.
  9. Now cook the other side of the naan over direct heat of the burner using tongs, moving the naan all over the flame such that brown spots appear.
  10. Do this for a few secs only and not too close to the flame.
  11. Drizzle some butter over the naan and serve hot with any curry of your choice like kadhai paneer , malai kofta
