Rava /Semolina Rotis

Ingredients to make Rava /Semolina Rotis

  • Rava/semolina-2cups( not roasted one)
  • One big onion finely chopped
  • 3-4green chilies finely chopped
  • curry leaves-10leaves-finely chopped
  • coriander leaves finely chopped-1tbsp
  • Grated ginger-1/2tsp
  • salt to taste
  • jeera-1tsp
  • curds-3/4 cup
  • Grated carrot-1/2cup
  • oil 1/4cup

How to make Rava /Semolina Rotis

  1. Mix all the ingredients and half tsp oil . Don't add water.Rest it covered for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Make a dough and use water only if required. The dough should be little soft .
  3. Take a square butter paper, a banana leaf or an aluminum foil and grease it .
  4. Heat a cast iron tava. Add few drops of oil and grease the tawa.
  5. Make a tennis size ball out of the dough .
  6. Pat on the greased foil/leaf/butter paper into a round roti.
  7. Invert this foil on the hot tava. After few seconds the foil can be peeled off from the dough . Add few drops of oil along the edges. Cook covered for 2 minutes.
  8. Once you see brown spots remove on to a plate. Follow the same procedure for the rest of the dough.
  9. Serve hot with any pickle , curd...

My Tip:

Adding grated carrot and finely chopped onion gives a nice crispness and golden yellow color to the rotis .
