ABOUT Kerala fish curry RECIPE

A simple and tasty fish curry that tastes best with freshly cooked rice.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 250 gm fish (any fish)
  2. 1 medium sized tomato
  3. 1 medium sized onion
  4. 100 grams green peas
  5. 2-3 green chillies sliced
  6. 1/2 cup tamarind extract
  7. 6-8 garlic cloves
  8. 4 tbsp oil
  9. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  10. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  11. 1 tsp coriander powder
  12. 8-10 curry leaves
  13. 1 cup water
  14. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Grind the ingredients, onion, tomatoes, garlic and green chillies and make a paste. Keep aside.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan, add in the spices and curry leaves along with the grinded paste and fry till it turns into a golden brown colour.
  3. Next pour in the tamarind extract along with the water and bring it to a boil.
  4. Put in the fish pieces and salt to taste, let it simmer and cook for 10-12 minutes.
  5. Serve hot with freshly boiled rice.
