Khatta Meetta Spicy Mango Jam

Ingredients to make Khatta Meetta Spicy Mango Jam

  • Raw mango - 2 Nos
  • Sugar - 3 cups
  • Water - 2 cups
  • Chilly powder- 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cardamom - 4
  • Cinnamon- 1/4 teaspoon
  • Nutmeg powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Pepper powder- 2 pinch

How to make Khatta Meetta Spicy Mango Jam

  1. Take 2 raw mangoes. I've used thothapuri variety. You may use any other type which is slightly sour. Wash well.
  2. Peel and chop to desired shape. I like some bite sizes while eating.
  3. Add water and cook the mangoes in a thick bottomed vessel. Stir occasionally.
  4. Add salt, chilly powder, pepper powder, crushed cardamom, Cinnamon powder & nutmeg powder.
  5. Cook in slow fire, stirring ocassionally till it thickens.
  6. Check the consistency before removing from the flame. To get the right consistency, spoon the jam in a cooled saucer. If it thickens when you touch with your finger, it is ready. Else, cook for some more time.
  7. Bottle the jam in sterilized bottles.

My Tip:

For best results, cook in copper vessel and use wooden ladle. The spices used could be varied.
