ABOUT kohlrabi(Nol kohl)curry RECIPE

kohl rabi which is most commonly called as German kohl a most popuar vegetable in german speaking countries.It is also most commonly used in eastern parts of india westbengal and in bangladesh named as' ol kopi'.It is even used in northern india especially in kashmir and is called as 'Nol kohl'

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. -3 cups diced kohlrabi
  2. -One sliced onion
  3. -one sliced tomato
  4. -1/4cup fresh green peas
  5. -Few curry leaves
  6. -2dry red chillies
  7. -Tsp of mustard,cumin seeds
  8. -tsp of split black gram
  9. -2tbsp coriander powder
  10. -half tsp chilli powder
  11. -turmeric powder
  12. -salt for taste
  13. -2tbsp dessicated coconut
  14. -Any cooking oil
  15. -coriander leaves for garnish(optional)

Instructions

  1. To begin preparation first peel the fibrous outer layer of kohl rabi and slice in to small squares.
  2. Even dice onions and tomato
  3. Take little oil in vessel and when is heated add mustard cumin seeds.when they splutter add split black gram
  4. Add curry leaves,dry red chillies and turmeric
  5. Add sliced onions and fry for few minutes.Add tomato slices followed by green peas and mix every thing and cook until tomatoes become little soft.
  6. Next add diced kohlrabi slices and mix. close the lid and cook for some time by mixing in intervals,
  7. Add all spices coriander powder,red chilli powder and salt as per taste.
  8. Finally add 2tbsp dry dessicated coconut and cook by closing lid for few more minutes
  9. cook until kohlrabi slices become soft,Garnish with coriander and serve with hot rice.
