Oats Daddojanam

Ingredients to make Oats Daddojanam

  • Oats- 1 cup
  • water- 1 and 1/2 cup
  • curd- 1 cup
  • oil- 1 tsp
  • cashew nuts- 1 tsp
  • raisins- 1 tbsp
  • mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
  • Chanadal- 1 tsp
  • urad dal- 1/2 tsp
  • cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
  • Few curry leaves
  • Dry red chillies- 1, broken
  • ginger- 1/2 inch piece chopped
  • Green chilles- 1 chopped
  • pomegranate seeds- 1/2 cup
  • salt to taste

How to make Oats Daddojanam

  1. Heat water in a pan, bring it to a full boil and add the oats with salt to taste. Stir it well and cook for 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the curd till its smooth and set aside. In another frying pan heat the oil and fry the cashew nuts till they are golden, remove and set aside.Then fry the raisins in the same oil till they are golden, remove and set aside.
  3. Now add the mustard seeds, let them pop, then add the channa dal, urad dal, chopped ginger, chopped green chilies, curry leaves, broken dry red chilies, cumin seeds and fry for a while. Add this tadka (talimpu) to the curd.
  4. Then add this tempered curd into the cooked oats mixture and stir well. Garnish with pomegranate seeds and serve.

My Tip:

Since the oats become thick when they cool, adjust the water and salt according to your desired consistency.
