Ingredients to make Sohan Roll

  • 1 1/2 cup besan
  • 1/2 cup Maida
  • 1 1/4 cup ghee
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/2 tsp saffron strands
  • 1/2 cup chopped roasted cashew nuts
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

How to make Sohan Roll

  1. In a big bowl add besan and maida together and mix well.
  2. Heat the ghee in a heavy bottom Kadai on low flame.
  3. Add in the flour mixture. Roast the flour mixture till its golden brown.
  4. Remove from heat and stir continuously till the mixture cool down to the room temperature.
  5. In a deep bottomed vessel boil the sugar and water on medium heat.
  6. Keep boiling the sugar syrup for 15 - 20 minutes or till the syrup become of 1 string consistency.
  7. Add in the saffron and cardamom powder and mix well.
  8. Remove the sugar syrup from heat. Now mix the roasted flour mixture to the sugar syrup.
  9. Beat it well with the fork until the mixture makes thread .
  10. Transfer all the mixture into a greased aluminium foil and spread evenly.
  11. Sprinkle roasted cashew nuts and push down on the mixture and roll it properly.
  12. Let the mixture cool down to the room temperature.
  13. Cut the sohan roll into 1 inch piece. Your sohan roll is ready.
  14. Store the sohan roll in the air tight container.
