ABOUT Tar Halwa RECIPE

A Persian sweet dish or halwa made from rice flour with the essence of saffron, cardamom and rose water.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rice flour 1 cup
  2. Sugar 30 grams
  3. Water 1 cup
  4. Ghee 6 tablespoon
  5. Rose water 1 teaspoon
  6. Almonds 10
  7. Chopped pistachio 1teaspoon for garnish
  8. Saffron 8-10 strands for colour
  9. Cardamom powder 1/2 tablespoon
  10. Cinnamon powder a pinch

Instructions

  1. Put sugar and water in a pan and boil till sugar dissolves.
  2. Remove pan from fire and add saffron, cardamom powder and rose water .
  3. Take another pan, put the rice flour and stir for 8-10 mintues on medium heat till it imparts a nutty smell but does not change colour.
  4. Add the ghee to the flour and mix till it forms a paste.
  5. Add the sugar syrup and stir till the halwa leaves the side of the pan and you get the right consistency.
  6. Remove the pan from fire and serve in a bowl garnished with cinnamon powder , almonds and pistachios.
