Ingredients to make Machha ambila

  • Fish fillets 4
  • Tamarind paste 1 Tablespoon
  • Panch phoran
  • curry leaves
  • Hing
  • Garlic 3 cloves
  • Sugar 1/2 teasp
  • Salt
  • Turmeric 1 tea sp
  • Chili powder 1tea sp
  • Oil 2 table sp
  • Onion optional

How to make Machha ambila

  1. Heat oil.Add panch phoran,curry leaves and garlic.
  2. Fry a little and add hing.
  3. Add onion cut into julions.
  4. Fry onions till they change colour.if not using oinons then add fish to the wok.
  5. Fry for 2 minutes then flip to the other side.
  6. Both side will change color.
  7. Add turmeric and chili powder.add salt.
  8. Stir carefully so that fishes dont break.
  9. Add tamarind paste to 3/4 cup water.add this to the fishes.
  10. Check for seasonings.add sugar.
  11. When the curry boils simmer for 5 minutes.
  12. Switch off the flame.garnish with coriander leaves.
  13. Enjoy hot with steamed rice on a cold winter day.
My Tip: Check for the sourness of tamarind and adjust as per your taste.
