ABOUT TOMATO CHUTNEY PULAO RECIPE

A yummy and spicy pulao made with the luscious tomatoes.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 bowl rice,
  2. 5 tomatoes,
  3. 3 Onion's
  4. 2 green chilies,
  5. 2 tsp ginger garlic paste,
  6. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  7. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  8. 1/4 tsp fenugreek [methi]
  9. 1 tsp red chilly powder
  10. Salt
  11. Tumeric powder -1/2 tsp
  12. 1 tsp garam masala powder
  13. oil
  14. Khada masala (4 long,1/2 inch cinnamon stick, 2 brown cardamom, 2 bay leaf)

Instructions

  1. Wash and chop the tomatoes finely.
  2. Slice the onions and green chillies, keep aside.
  3. Wash and soak the rice for 10 minutes.
  4. Heat some oil in a pressure cooker, add khada masala. When they release the aroma, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds.
  5. Add onion and ginger garlic paste, cook till they are translucent.
  6. Add tomatoes and the powdered masalas, salt. Saute and cook till the tomatoes are mushy and done.
  7. Now drain water from rice and add the rice to the masala in the cooker.
  8. Add required amount of water [water should be little less as the tomatoes will release some water], cook till the cooker release 2 whistles. Let the pulao rest and then serve with some raita.
