Red Velvet Cake with Lemon Drizzles

Ingredients to make Red Velvet Cake with Lemon Drizzles

  • 100 gm plain flour
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 100 gm castor sugar
  • 2 eggs or fresh curd
  • 75 ml soured cream
  • Grated rind of lemon
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 75 ml sunflower oil
  • For syrup:
  • Icing sugar 2 tbsp
  • Lemon juice 2 tbsp
  • Red colour 1tsp

How to make Red Velvet Cake with Lemon Drizzles

  1. Preheat the oven at 180c for 10 mins.
  2. Line the cake tin with butter paper.
  3. Sieve the flour and baking powder.
  4. Add castor sugar and mix.
  5. Whisk eggs or curd with oil, lemon juice, soured cream, lemon rind.
  6. Pour the wet mixture into dry mixture.
  7. Add red colour and Mix well.
  8. Pour the batter into the cake tin.
  9. Bake at 170c for 25 to 30 mins.
  10. To make the golden top of cake bake more for 10 mins.
  11. To make syrup mix icing sugar and lemon juice.
  12. Heat on low heat until bubbles come.
  13. And turn syrupy.
  14. As soon as the cake is baked out.
  15. Prick the cake top with a fine skewer.
  16. Apply the syrup with a brush on the top.
  17. Cool it completely in the tin.
  18. Cut and serve.
My Tip: Apply sugar lemon syrup as soon as possible on the top of hot cake.
