ABOUT Beetroot Falafel RECIPE

This is a Lebanese cuisine recipe.It can be served as a starter or along with pita bread.A Very nutritious dish as chickpeas are high in protein and beetroot is a rich source of iron,fibre and vitamin C.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chickpeas-1 cup
  2. Beetroot-1 big
  3. Onion-1
  4. Garlic-4 cloves
  5. Ginger-1/2 inch
  6. Coriander/parsley-2 tbsp
  7. Cumin Powder-1tsp
  8. Lemon juice-1 tsp
  9. Black pepper-1 tsp
  10. Olive oil-1 tsp
  11. Cornflour-2 tbsp
  12. For Tahini Sauce:
  13. Tahini -2 tbsp
  14. Curd-1 cup
  15. Garlic-1 clove
  16. Olive oil-1 tsp
  17. Salt
  18. Lemon juice-1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Soak chickpeas overnight.Drain next day.
  2. Take a big beetroot, wash and peel it.Grate it.
  3. Prepare chopped onions, garlic, coriander and ginger.
  4. Now take chickpeas in a food processor and grind coarsely.
  5. Add beetroot, ginger, garlic, onions, cumin powder, black pepper, lemon juice, olive oil, coriander, salt and grind in processor.
  6. Take this dough out in a bowl and refrigerate.
  7. After 1 hour remove it from the fridge and add cornflour.Mix properly and shape into small flat rounds.
  8. Fry them in medium hot oil.They will puff up on frying and turn golden gradually.
  9. Take them on an absorbent paper and serve with tahini sauce or with pita bread and veggies of your choice with tahini sauce.
  10. To make tahini sauce,take all ingredients mentioned under Tahini sauce and whisk properly.
  11. Serve hot falafels with tahini sauce.
