Sunday Special Chatpata Chana Puri

Ingredients to make Sunday Special Chatpata Chana Puri

  • White channa - 250 gms
  • whole wheat flour - 4 cups
  • curd - 250 gms
  • potatoes - 4 boiled and chopped
  • onions 4
  • green chillies - 4
  • tomatoes - 3
  • masala boondi - 1/2 cup
  • garlic - 4 pieces
  • ginger - 1/2 inch
  • coriander - 1 tbsp
  • mint leaves - 1/2 tbsp
  • turmeric powder and mango powder - 1 tsp each
  • red chilli powder and coriander powder- 1 tsp each
  • garam masala - 1 tsp
  • oil as required
  • soya chunks (optional)
  • salt as per taste

How to make Sunday Special Chatpata Chana Puri

  1. Soak the white channas over night. Boil the channe adding a closed pouch of tea bag.
  2. Make a dough of whole wheat flour adding a pinch of salt and keep it aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, add potatoes, salt, turmeric powder, garam masala, coriander powder and a bit of red chilli powder. Add 1/2 cup water and cook for 5 mins.
  4. Now make a paste of ginger, garlic, 2 green chilles, 2 onions and 2 tomatoes.
  5. Add 2 tbsp oil in a cooker, add the gravy in it and cook on a medium flame for 7-8 mins. Add salt, garam masala, coriander powder and red chilli powder in it.
  6. Add boiled channas and 1 cup water in it and cover it with a lid and let it whistle 2 times. Now make poories of the dough by deep frying it.
  7. Make a chutney of coriander leaves, mint leaves, 2 green chillies, one onion and a tomato and add salt and mango powder in it.
  8. Cut the onions as rings and put chaat masala or anything you want.
  9. Now beat the curd and add masala boondi and potatoes in it.
My Tip: Salad and Raita work as icing on the cake.
