Ingredients to make Turai Gosht

  • Ridge gourd or Turai 1/2 kg
  • Mutton 400 gm
  • Salt to taste
  • Kasuri Methi 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric 1/4 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • Curry powder 1 tsp
  • Kitchen king masala 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves chopped a handful
  • Onions sliced 2
  • Oil 4 tbsp

How to make Turai Gosht

  1. Wash and pressure cook the mutton with ginger garlic paste and salt.
  2. Add minimum water only.
  3. Allow the pressure to settle down before opening the lid.
  4. After the pressure is released, dry the water on medium flame if there is any left.
  5. Cut the ridge gourd into thin slices.
  6. In a pot, heat oil and saute the onions.
  7. After they are translucent, add the rest of the spices to it.
  8. Keep the flame low.
  9. Next, allow this to simmer for a minute or two.
  10. Now add the cooked mutton and the ridge gourd along with the Kasuri methi.
  11. Do not add any water to it.
  12. Let this cook on high flame now.
  13. Keep a constant vigil and stir whenever required.
  14. When it is sauteed well, oil starts separating.
  15. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.
