Ingredients to make Sweet and Sour Mushrooms

  • mushroom 250 gms
  • Red bell pepper 1
  • onion 1 sliced
  • garlic pods 4 crushed or minced
  • ginger 1/2 inches long minced
  • tomato 1 small chopped
  • chilli Powder 1/2 tsp
  • Soy sauce 1 1/2tsp
  • vinegar 1 tsp
  • chilli flakes 1 tsp
  • Ajinomoto 1/3tsp
  • salt
  • water 3/4 cup
  • coriander leaves chopped for garnishing
  • tomato ketchup 1/4 cup
  • sesame seeds 1 tsp
  • Corn flour 1 tsp, mixed with 2 tsp water

How to make Sweet and Sour Mushrooms

  1. Wash and cut mushrooms into halves, chop garlic and ginger
  2. Cut onions into slices
  3. Dry roast sesame seeds, keep aside
  4. Blanch mushrooms for 3-4 mins, keep aside
  5. Heat oil in a nonstick pan
  6. Add ginger, garlic and onion, saute until translucent
  7. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder
  8. Saute for 1-2 mins, add bell pepper
  9. Cover and cook for 3-4 mins with 2-3 tsp water
  10. Add chopped tomatoes, cook until tomatoes are tender
  11. Add chilli sauce and stir
  12. Add chilli flakes
  13. Add mushrooms now mix and stir
  14. Next, add vinegar and soy sauce
  15. Cook for 1-2 mins, add tomato ketchup
  16. Add aji no moto
  17. Next, add corn flour and water mixture
  18. Add 1/2 cup water, let the gravy boil for 3-5mins
  19. Check for salt, adjust your spice level, if needed you can add some sugar also
  20. Switch off gas
  21. Garnish with roasted sesame seeds, coriander leaves
