There is no artificial colour, real red colour from the beetroot in this kesari

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Rava / semolina - 200grams
  2. Sugar – 100 gram
  3. Sweetened condensed milk – 3 tbspn
  4. Ghee – 3 tbspn
  5. Cashew nut, Badam – 100 grams crushed and roasted in ghee
  6. Beetroot – 1 no. grated
  7. Ghee – 3 tbspn
  8. Butter – 1 tbsp
  9. Hot water – 400ml
  10. Salt – ¼ pinch
  11. Pistachio Flakes - few (for garnishing)

Instructions

  1. In a pan roast the nuts in ghee and keep separate. Into the same pan add butter and cook grated beetroot for 5 minutes. Then, add rava (semolina) to it and roast over medium heat, slightly brown.
  2. Meanwhile in another pan, bring water to boil and add pinch of salt.
  3. Reduce the heat and pour the boiling water in to the roasted semolina and stir continuously for 5 to 7 min .
  4. Add the sugar and stir for 3 minutes. Add sweetened condensed milk stir it well without any lumps.
  5. Finally add the crushed badam, cashew. Transfer it to a serving plate.
  6. Let it cool and make it into desired shapes. Garnish with Pistachio
