Yummy Mumbai Street Food - Pav Bhaji

Ingredients to make Yummy Mumbai Street Food - Pav Bhaji

  • 4 medium sized potatoes, peeled and chopped.
  • 2 medium sized carrots, chopped.
  • 2 tbsp of shelled peas
  • 1/4 cauliflower , chopped.
  • 1 medium capsicum , chopped.
  • 4 medium sized tomatoes chopped.
  • 2 tsp Pav Bhaji Masala
  • 2 tsp green chilli paste
  • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 medium onion chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as required
  • 1 tbsp of butter
  • Pav buns as needed

How to make Yummy Mumbai Street Food - Pav Bhaji

  1. Pressure cook all the vegetables except the onions, tomatoes and capsicum for 2-3 whistles.
  2. Take it off the heat. Allow the pressure to release.
  3. Drain the water from the cooker , then cool and mash the vegetables.
  4. In a pan, heat up some oil.
  5. Add the chopped onions, ginger garlic paste, chilli paste and the chopped capsicum.
  6. Stir. Cover the lid and let it simmer for few minutes until gravy forms from tomatoes and oil oozes out from the gravy.
  7. Now add the Pav bhaji masala along with the boiled and mashed vegetables. Mix it well.
  8. Add little water to form semi soft gravy. Add lemon juice and salt to taste.
  9. Sprinkle chopped Coriander.
  10. Turn off the flame.
  11. In a pan, spread some butter and roast the Buns.
  12. Serve the piping hot Pav Bhaji with buttered buns, chopped onions and chopped tomatoes. Enjoy!

My Tip:

This dish tastes best with lots of butter and masala.
