ABOUT Nattu Kozhi Rasam RECIPE

This rasam is best if you have sore throat or cold.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 1/4 kilo country chicken with bones
  2. 1/4 tsp chili powder
  3. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  4. Salt to taste
  5. 1 cup water after boiling split pigeon pea gram
  6. To be grounded(rasam powder)
  7. 1 tsp pepper .
  8. 1 dry red chili
  9. 1/2 tsp split black gram
  10. 1 Tsp cumin seed
  11. 1 tsp fennel seed
  12. 2 garlic cloves
  13. 1 tsp ghee
  14. For tempering
  15. 1 small tomato chopped
  16. 1 green chili slit
  17. 2 garlic cloves
  18. 1 small lemon sized tamarind soaked
  19. 1/4 Tsp Asafoetida
  20. 1/2 tsp Pepper
  21. 2 cloves
  22. 1 cardamom
  23. 2 tsp sesame oil
  24. 1/4 tsp kashmiri chili powder
  25. 1 spring curry leaves
  26. 1 tsp chopped coriander leaves .
  27. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Pressure cook chicken with salt, chili powder, turmeric and boiled gram water till cooked.
  2. Now in a pan heat ghee and all ingredients mentioned under to be grounded list and saute till it releases nice aroma.
  3. Ground it into coarse powder
  4. Now in the same pan add sesame oil and add pepper, cloves and cardamom and lightly saute it.
  5. Next add in curry leaves, green chili,chopped tomatoes and garlic. Add salt to ease the process
  6. Add in asafoetida
  7. Once sauted add the tamarind juice and let it boil for some time.
  8. Next add in cooked chicken and let it boil nicely.
  9. Add chili powder
  10. Adjust seasoning if needed
  11. When it starts to boil add the grounded rasam powder and mix well.
  12. Add in salt if needed and corriander leaves and switch off the gas.
  13. Serve hot.
