ABOUT Tortilla Wraps With Onion Pakora & Chutney RECIPE

Finely sliced onion, pretty much in quantity in ratio with the flour batter is flavored with Indian spices and deep fried til they are golden and crisp. This crunchy snack has various versions and names at different corners of our country. Easy to make and perfect snack option if you have sudden guests at home. Now make it more interesting by wrapping it in a tortilla and impress your family and friends with your international cooking skills.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 4 tortilla Wraps
  2. For Onion Pakora :
  3. 1 cup besan
  4. 4 Onions Medium Size (fine slices)
  5. 1 sprig coriander (chopped)
  6. 1 - 2 Green Chili (chopped)
  7. 1 tsp Salt
  8. 1 pinch cooking soda
  9. 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  10. 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  11. 1/2 cup water
  12. For Green Chutney :
  13. 1 bunch coriander (chopped)
  14. 2 Tomatoes (chopped)
  15. 4 - 5 mint leaves
  16. 4 - 5 cloves garlic
  17. 2 - 3 Chilies Green (chopped)
  18. 1 tsp Lemon juice
  19. 1/2 tsp Salt (adjustable)

Instructions

  1. How to make Onion Pakora : Heat oil in a wok and mean while prepare the batter for pakoras.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add besan along with salt, cooking soda, red chili powder, garam masala powder and dry mix all.
  3. Slowly add water and stir to make a thick flowing batter. Avoid forming lumps.
  4. Now add finely sliced onions and chopped coriander & green chilies. Mix everything nicely and keep aside. [Adjust salt as per taste]
  5. Check if the oil is hot or not by adding a small drop of batter into it. If the oil is hot, the batter will immediately rise up and fry.
  6. Now turn the gas flames on medium heat and drop spoonful of pakora mix into the oil.
  7. Fry them in batches and once the pakoras are golden and nicely crisp, transfer them on a kitchen towel to absorb excess oil.
  8. How to make Green Chutney : Collect all the ingredients in a mixer grinder jar, except salt and lemon juice.
  9. Grind to make a smooth and thick chutney.
  10. Collect the chutney in a bowl and add salt as per taste.
  11. Now add lemon juice and mix well.
  12. Serve with hot bhajiyas or pakoras.
  13. Tortilla Wraps with Onion Pakoras & Green Chutney : Place a soft tortilla on a clean counter or a plate.
  14. Line it with lettuce or cabbage leaf.
  15. Spread some green chutney in the center of the sheet over the cabbage/lettuce leaf.
  16. Place handful of onion pakoras and some more chutney on top.
  17. Fold in the bottom part and then wrap the sides of the tortillas so that nothing drips or fall off.
  18. Enjoy tortilla wraps with onion pakora and chutney hot!
