Ingredients to make Rajasthani pyaaj

  • 6 onions (small)
  • Salt to taste
  • one tea spoon red chilly powder
  • half tea spoon turmeric powder
  • one teaspoon cummin seeds
  • half teaspoon mustard seeds
  • three to four table spoons water
  • two tablespoons oil

How to make Rajasthani pyaaj

  1. peel onions and wash and give four slits on each onion with knife
  2. add oil in a pressure cooker
  3. heat the oil and add cummin seeds and mustard seeds. allow them to sizzle
  4. add onions and add oil the spices including salt
  5. mix until all the spices are combined with onions. add three spoons water.
  6. place the lid on the pressure cooker and cook upto one whistle. turn off the heat.
  7. after the pressure is released open the lid and on medium flame cook the onions for two to three minutes until all the water dries.
  8. Rajasthani onions are ready to serve
  9. garnish with fresh coriander and enjoy with daal and chapati
