ABOUT Onion Saagu.. RECIPE

Onion is a daily must have that helps you stay away from many infections and diseases.It is also very helpful in hair growth.I was thinking to do something special with onions and then i got this great idea to prepare a Saagu out of onions. We can say,if there is no onion then there are no dishes.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Onion.....3
  2. ginger paste......1/2 spoon
  3. turmeric powder...1/2 spoon
  4. chilly powder.....1/4 or 1/2 spoon
  5. green chilly.....2
  6. grated coconut.....4 spoon
  7. fried gram(putani)......3 spoon
  8. lime juice.....1 spoon
  9. salt...1 spoon
  10. curry leaves..10
  11. asafoetida....1/4 spoon
  12. Red chilly....1
  13. urad dal....1 spoon
  14. channa dal.....1 spoon
  15. mustard.....1/4 spoon
  16. coconut oil.....2 spoon
  17. sugar......1 spoon
  18. Coriander leaves....few

Instructions

  1. Grind grated coconut,fried gram and 1 green chilly with water and keep it aside.
  2. Make a tempering using kadai with oil,mustard,urad dal,channa dal,red chilly, curry leaves and asofoetida in it.
  3. add sliced onions into the kadai and fry them and add sugar and little salt.
  4. Add ginger paste and one green cilly(chopped)to the same kadai fry them.
  5. Now add turmeric and chilly powder to it with little water and close the kadai leave it for a while.
  6. Add the grinded masala,water(3 cup or 4 cup) and salt to the kadai and allow it to cook
  7. Add coriander leaves to it and mix them.
  8. Finally add lime juice to it and off the stove.
  9. Serve it while it is hot.
