Crispy Onion Pakoda or Ullivada

Ingredients to make Crispy Onion Pakoda or Ullivada

  • Onion (sliced) 3
  • Ginger (chopped) 1/2 inch piece
  • Curry leaves (roughly chopped) 1 sprig
  • Green chilies (chopped) 2
  • Salt as required
  • Asafoetida a pinch
  • Red chili powder 1 and 1/2 tsp
  • Rice flour 2 Tbsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/4
  • Chickpea flour 1 Cup
  • Water as required
  • Oil for Deep frying

How to make Crispy Onion Pakoda or Ullivada

  1. Take all the ingredients except oil and water in a bowl.
  2. Add water little by little to form a thick batter.
  3. Heat oil in a kadai.
  4. Drop a tbsp each of the batter to form vadas.
  5. Fry until they turn golden brown in color, flipping sides in between.
  6. Remove from flame and place on a paper towel, to remove excess oil, if any.
  7. Serve hot.
