ABOUT Crispy Onion Pakoda or Ullivada RECIPE

A perfect snack to munch on with hot tea, especially during cold rainy days. Crispy on the outside,with a juicy and flavorful inside.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Onion (sliced) 3
  2. Ginger (chopped) 1/2 inch piece
  3. Curry leaves (roughly chopped) 1 sprig
  4. Green chilies (chopped) 2
  5. Salt as required
  6. Asafoetida a pinch
  7. Red chili powder 1 and 1/2 tsp
  8. Rice flour 2 Tbsp
  9. Turmeric powder 1/4
  10. Chickpea flour 1 Cup
  11. Water as required
  12. Oil for Deep frying

Instructions

  1. Take all the ingredients except oil and water in a bowl.
  2. Add water little by little to form a thick batter.
  3. Heat oil in a kadai.
  4. Drop a tbsp each of the batter to form vadas.
  5. Fry until they turn golden brown in color, flipping sides in between.
  6. Remove from flame and place on a paper towel, to remove excess oil, if any.
  7. Serve hot.
