Ingredients to make The Blooming Onion

  • 1 big sized onion
  • 1 bowl ice cold water
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp dry chili flakes.
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika powder (you can use kashmiri chili powder)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup corn flour slurry
  • Oil for Deep frying

How to make The Blooming Onion

  1. Peel and wash onion and cut it as shown in the picture given below and soak it in ice cold water.
  2. After 2 mins remove from water and pat it dry.
  3. Now mix in all purpose flour, salt, paprika powder, onion, garlic powder and chili flakes nicely, to this add onion and coat well from inside and outside.
  4. Now dip this in slurry.
  5. Fry in medium hot oil till golden brown from both sides.
  6. Serve hot with ketchup.
