ABOUT Kairi Kanda Chutney RECIPE

Kairi kanda chutney is a simple but unusual yet relishing combination of raw mango and onion. This is a typical marathi salad enjoyed in summers. There are various ways or variation to this like addition of peanut powder/ coconut or garlic. I have added a simple traditional recipie here.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Raw mango grated 1 cup
  2. Onion cut finely 1 cup
  3. Sugar/ jaggery 2 teaspoon (adjust as per sourness of mango)
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Red chilly powder 1 teaspoon
  6. Tempering: oil, cumin and mustard seeds, asafotida, red chilly

Instructions

  1. Take finely chopped onion
  2. Add grated raw mango
  3. Add sugar, red chilly powder and salt
  4. Mix well and let it sand for some time
  5. Add tempering to hot oil
  6. When tempering splutters, pour it over onion mixture
  7. Mix well and serve. This chutney can be stored in refrigerator for 7 days
