Baked Onion Bhaji

Ingredients to make Baked Onion Bhaji

  • For baked onion-
  • 5-6 medium size onion
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp amchoor powder
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp fennel powder
  • Less than 1/4 Tsp turmeric powder
  • For gravy-
  • 2 onion finely chopped
  • 1 tomato finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp ginger- garlic paste
  • 1 green chilly chopped
  • Pinch of cinnamon pwd
  • Pinch of cloves pwd
  • Pinch of black cardamom powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp fresh cream
  • 1/4 tsp deggi mirch
  • salt to taste
  • For garnish-
  • 1 Fried onion

How to make Baked Onion Bhaji

  1. Wash and peel the onion, mix all dry spices in a bowl.
  2. add 1 tsp oil in dry spices and mix well.
  3. Add the + mark on onion with knife, without cutting from bottom. Fill the masala in onions.
  4. Apply some oil in cake tin as well as on the onions with the brush. Bake at 180° C in preheated oven for 10 mins.
  5. Take it out after 10 mins.
  6. For gravy- take 1 tbsp oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, pinch of asafoetida, and all the dry spices, saute for a min. Add chopped onion and cook for few minutes.
  7. Add chopped tomatoes, let it cook till the oil separates. Add cream and fenugreek leaves ,cook for 1 min and off the flame.
  8. Deep fry the thinly sliced onions for garnish. Keep aside.
  9. In a bowl or cake tin spread the gravy. Place baked onion on it.
  10. Garnish with fried onions.

My Tip:

Add 2-3 tbsp of water to adjust the consistancy of gravy.
